Ajay Devgn Postpones The Last Leg Of Shooting For His Directorial Debut Mayday

href=”author/pallavi-manoj”>Pallavi Manoj , 10 Apr 2021Ajay Devgn (Source: Instagram | @kajol)

The covid cases in India are increasing day by day while there are reports that suggest some vaccination centres have run out of vaccines. As more and more actors contract the virus, more shoots are being stalled. Maharashtra especially has gone into lockdown once again. Amidst all this, Ajay Devgn has decided to hold of the final stint of the Mayday shoot to a later date keeping his crew’s safety in mind. Despite the pandemic, Ajay has successfully shot major parts of his directorial debut Mayday that stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet.

According to the original plan, Ajay and his crew were supposed to head to Doha towards the end of April for a three-day schedule but due to the Covid surge in India, the actor has postponed this bit. Mayday is an aviation drama based on a 2015 incident of a Doha-Kochi flight that has a close shave due to poor visibility and has to be diverted to another airport in South India. The portion in Doha was supposed to be shot with the limited crew in a bio bubble. Doha has also layer down strict travel restrictions at the moment hence strengthening Ajay’s resolve at the moment, according to a report in Mid Day.

We hope he is able to complete the shooting of the film and bring the movie to fruition.

The Cast Of Masti Celebrate 17 Years Of The Film With A Virtual Reunion

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 09 Apr 2021Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh (Source: Instagram | @riteishd)

The 2004 film ‘Masti’, starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, was a comedy-thriller that went on to become a hit, which gave way for two more instalments – ‘Grand Masti’ and ‘Great Grand Masti’. Directed by Indra Kumar, the comedy also starred Lara Dutta, Amrita Rao, Genelia D’Souza and Tara Sharma, with Ajay Devgn in a supporting role. Today, as the film completed 17 years, Riteish decided to do something special with the cast and planned a virtual reunion on Instagram!

Riteish got Vivek and Aftab along with director Indra Kumar on a live chat, as they discussed the film, fun incidents from shooting the film to their families and children now, many years down the lane. It sure was super fun to see the trio and their undeniable rapport that reflects in the film a 100%! Right from the get-go, Riteish began by pulling Aftab’s leg, asking if his hair was real or a wig, from there on, it was only a laugh riot for everyone on the live!

The four of them discussed how they built their bond shooting the three Masti films together, and even about coming together for a fourth part (when they all have two kids each)!

Lara Dutta, who was not part of the live, took to the comments section to express her disappointment of being left behind and wrote, “Mere Begair (without me)!!!!”

Now, after this live session, I’m sure a lot of fans are already looking forward to the 4th instalment of the Masti series with this fun trio!

Ajay Devgn To Resume ‘Maidaan’ Shoot After Director Amit Sharma Tests COVID-19 Negative

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 30 Mar 2021Ajay Devgn in the poster of Maidaan (Source: Instagram | @ajaydevgn)

Ajay Devgn‘s upcoming film, Maidaan, was supposed to release in November last year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dates had to be moved around. Now, finally, with the industry starting up again, the film was also planning on going on floors in January. But, the director, Amit Sharma, testing positive for Coronavirus put the entire shoot on halt. Now, he has tested negative and the shoot is all set to resume again.

Amit had tested positive for the virus earlier this month and quarantined himself at home. Now, as he has tested negative, and feeling better, he is keen to get back to work. The makers are all set to make preparations for the shoot to be back on track.

For the uninitiated, Maidaan is a story that is based on the very acclaimed football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim. This will be the first time that Ajay will be essaying a role of a sports coach and I sure am looking forward to seeing him step into this role.

The film will also star Priyamani opposite him along with Gagjraj Rao, who is playing a pivotal role in it. This sure is one interesting star cast that I can’t wait to witness on screen! The film is being produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, in association with Freshlime Films and is slated to release this Dussehra 2021, on 15th October.

Abhishek Bachchan & Ajay Devgn Starrer ‘The Big Bull’ Teaser Out

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 16 Mar 2021Abhishek Bachchan in The Big Bull poster (Source: instagram | @bachchan)

During the nationwide lockdown last year, a lot of big films took to the OTT route considering the theatres were shut down. One of the films to go the OTT route was Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn‘s The Big Bull.

Now, the makers finally released the teaser of the film and announced its release date. The film is all set to release digitally on Disney+ Hotstar VIP on 8th April. The trailer of the film is set to drop on 19th March. Sharing the video on his social media, Abhishek wrote, “Introducing The Big Bull…the mother of all scams!!!”

A post shared by Abhishek Bachchan (@bachchan)

The teaser shows only shots of Abhishek’s back, who plays Hemant Shah — the guy who rocks the stock market in Mumbai in the 1980s and early 1990s. Producer and actor Ajay Devgn introduces Abhishek’s character in the film, saying that people always discourage those born in less-privileged houses from dreaming big, and that’s why they take it upon themselves to make it large in life.

The film does remind us all of the very famous and acclaimed series, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story directed by Hansal Mehta. The director event took to his social media to wish the team and said he is looking forward to watching Abhishek play Hemant Shah.

I am also equally excited to see Abhishek and Ajay in this film that also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Ram Kapoor, Sumit Vats, Sohum Shah, Nikita Dutta and Lekha Tripathi in pivotal roles. The film is being produced by Ajay and Anand Pandit.

Amitabh Bachchan recently started shoot for Ajay Devgn‘s MayDay. The shoot is happening in Mumbai, and Amit Ji just took to his social media today to share a little trivia about the location they were shooting in today.

The actor shared that the shooting of MayDay brought him to the same spot where he shot an iconic scene in his famous film Deewar opposite Shashi Kapoor 42 years ago. Big B was seen donning a dapper black suit sharing a picture of himself alongside the location, he wrote a nostalgic caption.

The caption read:

Looking back on time .. see that arch in the stone building at the back .. in a shadow loop .. Police Officer Shashi Kapoor shoots his brother Vijay in DEEWAR at that spot in film .. today shooting same place for MAYDAY… 42 years later… Deewar made in 1979 to today 2021…Been a while.

The end credits of Rohit Shetty-directed Simmba led to the announcement of Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi. Headlined by Akshay Kumar, the cop-drama, that also stars Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Ajay Devgn as Singham, was slated to release last year on Guddi Padwa but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The government has now allowed 100% occupancy in cinemas and this could be a sigh of relief for all the films that were long due for a release, and Sooryavanshi is one of them. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film could arrive on April 2 this year. The publication quoted a source as saying “Rohit Shetty is leading the discussion with the theatre owners. Co-producer Reliance Entertainment is also a part of these meetings”.The source further added that—“The makers want to solve all the issues cropping up like payment of VPF (virtual print fee), revenue sharing, shortening of the window between OTT and theatrical release, etc. with the exhibitors. They are confident that there would soon be a consensus over these issues.”

Talking about the official announcement of the release, the publication mentioned that the team plans to announce the date of release in a grand way. The makers of the film are going to make sure that enough buzz is generated around the release of the film. The source concluded by saying that the announcement is expected to happen next week.

The film also stars Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Nikitin Dheer, Abhimanyu Singh, and Sikandar Kher among others.

Carry Minati a.k.a Ajey Nagar is one YouTuber who always speaks his mind when it comes to the things he believes in. Be it his funny skits or his roasts and diss tracks, he has risen to become a well-known name.

Recently, in conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on the latest episode of her radio show, Dabur Amla Aloe Vera What Women Want Season 3 on Filmy Mirchi, Carry Minati shared his views on the safety of women on the internet

The YouTube creator, who has over 28 million subscribers on his channel, says that female content creators face a lot of backlash and trolling in the online space. He adds that he sees ladies themselves trolling the female creators in their comments section, hinting that their own kind are not supportive of each other. When asked about how he is also sometimes referred to as an ‘online bully’ because if his roasts on people, he clarifies that whoever he has roasted until now, it has always been with their permission and not otherwise.

Speaking about it to Bebo, he also shares that if he had to have one superpower, that would be to help stop rapes from happening in our country.

Here is the link to the entire episode:

This sure was a dream superpower to have in a country like ours where women’s safety is one of our most prevalent issues.

On the work front, Carry is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Ajay Devgn‘s MayDay alongside Ajay and Amitabh Bachchan. He is set to play a fictionalised version of himself in it and I sure am looking forward to seeing him in it.

Director Nishikant Kamat Passes Away Due To Liver Cirrhosis

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 17 Aug 2020Nishikant Kamat in a still from the film Daddy

Nishikant Kamat, who has helmed films like Ajay Devgn‘s Drishyam, Irrfan Khans Madaari and John Abraham‘s Rocky Handsome, was admitted to the hospital in Hyderabad as he was undergoing treatment for cirrhosis of liver. The doctors had said in a statement that his condition was critical, but he was stable. Earlier today, there was news of him passing away due to a relapse.

While filmmaker Milap Zaveri, actor Riteish Deshmukh and John took to their social media to inform that he is still fighting for his life, news now is that the hospital, AIG Hospital, have themselves released a statement that due to multiple organ failures, he succumbed to his illness at 4:24 PM.

I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace. 🙏🏽 pic.twitter.com/cqEeLbKJPM

The 50-year-old filmmaker made his debut with the Marathi film, Dombivali Fast, in 2005. It even won him a national award in 2006. His Bollywood debut film was based on the 2006 Mumbai bombings titled Mumbai Meri Jaan. From there on, he went on to direct the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film, Drishyam, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu.

Not just directing, Nishikant has also acted in films. He has been part of the cast in films like Rocky Handsome, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Julie 2 and Daddy. He was also the creative producer for Indian web series’ like The Final Call and Rangbaaz Phir Se.

This surely is a huge loss to the Indian film fraternity. We pray for Nishikant’s soul and send prayers and strength to his family and friends.

6 Actors Who Played Indian National Heroes To Perfection

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 15 Aug 2020The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, Bose: Dead/Alive, Mangal Pandey: The Rising

Playing a national hero is a huge responsibility. To portray that valour and bravery on screen in the right way and staying true to their personality is not an easy job. But some actors have really gone on to do a great job at it! From Ajay Devgn as Bhagat Singh to Rajkummar Rao as Subhash Chandra Bose, we have seen some rather talented actors play national heroes to perfection.

This Independence Day, here’s 6 actors who we loved in these rather amazing movies depicting our national struggles for independence:

  • Aamir Khan as Mangal Pandey in Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005)
  • Mangal Pandey was an soldier in British occupied India who rebelled against the British because of a new kind of bullet that Indian soldiers were forced to use that was lined with animal fat as a lubricant. This was what led to the Indian mutiny of 1857. Directed by Ketan Mehta, the movie starred Aamir Khan in the lead role as Mangal Pandey and how can he not do it to perfection, right?

           2. Ajay Devgn as Bhagat Singh

Ajay Devgn played the revolutionary war martyr, Bhagat Singh, in the 2002 film, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. It told the story of the 23-year-old revolutionary who planned a strategic bombing at the British assembly to get back at the British for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. Ajay played the role of the young hero to perfection and is one of those performances where you forget the actor and experience the acting.

           3. Rajkummar Rao as Subhash Chandra Bose in Bose: Dad/Alive (2017)

Another one of those performances where you forget the actor because he is literally living the part. Rajkummar Rao played the role of the legendary Indian freedom fighter, Subhash Chandra Bose in the web series, Bose. The series talks about the mystery behind the death of the Bose and chronicles his story.

           4. Ben Kingsley as Mahatma Gandhi in Gandhi (1982)

Ben Kingsley looked, walked, and smiled like Mahatma Gandhi in every frame he was in. We all might have extensive knowledge about all that Gandhi did for our independence, but this film is a detailed account on the person that we was, brought to life by Mr Kingsley. The films chronicles Gandhi’s journey in fighting for the independence of our country.

            5. Paresh Rawal as Sardar Vallabbhai Patel in Sardar (1993)

Sardar Vallabhai Patel was an Indian hero, also popularly known as the Iron Man of India. Paresh Rawal played him to perfection, giving us a glimpse of his life and his vision for the independence movement. We all know the absolutely amazing actor that Paresh Rawal is, so he did complete justice to the story of this mighty leader.

             6. Mammooty as Dr. Ambedkar in Dr. Babsaheb Ambedkar (2000)

Dr. Babsaheb Ambedkar, who is also called the Architect of the Indian constitution, is someone we all might not know extensively about. But veteran actor, Mammooty‘s portrayal of the hero brought us closest to understanding his life and contribution to the Indian independence movement. Mammooty even won a National Award for his performance in the film.

Which one of these films do you plan on watching today?

    href=”author/avya-sharma”>Avya Sharma , 21 Jul 2020

A good plot twist is a special kind of thrill, no? Many TV shows like Games Of Thrones, Sherlock immediately come to mind when I think of shows with a good twist. I mean, sudden character deaths or revelations, the big twists that change the entire narrative are just so exciting, no? But it should also be noted that plot twists are tricky and if they don’t stick well, they can completely ruin the film. It’s more like a make it or break it situation, honestly.

Ever since I have been acquainted with the world of cinema, crime, drama and horror thrillers have been my favourite genres. So in my attempt to share a few films such without ruining it for you, I have assorted a list of 7 movies, which according to me had the best plot twists.

    3. Andhadhun (2018)Ayushmann Khurrana in Viacom18 Motion Pictures’ Andhadhun

The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, Radhika Apte among others in pivotal roles and revolves around a blind pianist who gets unwillingly involved in the murder of a former film actor.

    4. Shutter Island (2018)Leonardo DiCaprio in Paramount Pictures’ Shutter Island

Directed by Martin Scorsese, Shutter Island is about a U.S Marshal who is sent to probe the disappearance of a murderer who escaped from an asylum.

The film is a remake of a Malayalam film of the same name. It stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran among others and it revolves around a man who takes desperate measures to save his family from the dark side of the law after they perform an unexpected crime.

    6. Gone Girl (2014)Ben Affleck in 20th Century Studios’ Gone Girl

Another masterpiece by David Fincher, Gone Girl is about a man who comes into the media spotlight as he is suspected in the case of his wife’s disappearance.

    href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 04 Jul 2020

Ajay Devgn (Source: Twitter | @taran_adarsh)

Ajay Devgn was recently part of a virtual press conference where he announced the release of his next film, Bhuj: The Pride Of India on OTT. The film is based on the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, where Ajay is set to essay the role of an Indian Air Force officer. Now, news is, that Ajay is set to produce a film based on the recent Galwan valley clash, where our Indian army fought the Chinese troops at the Indo-Chinese border.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news and wrote:

SS Rajamouli gave us a visual treat with his two-part film Baahubali. And the motion posters of his next called RRR also promises pretty much the same. The movie is also set to release in 10 languages just like Baahubali. But what’s got us talking even more about it is that along with Alia Bhatt, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn is also part of the cast. The movie features Telugu superstars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in lead roles. They play freedom fighters inspired by real-life heroes Komarum Bheem and Alluri Sitaram Raju. A generic motion poster of the film and a motion poster introducing Ram Charan’s character was shared by Ajay on his Instagram. It is impressive, to say the least.

But we got a little scoop about what we can expect to see Ajay’s character do in the movie. Ajay basically plays the role of a nationalist and will appear in the flashback scenes being Ram Charan and Jr.NTR’s mentor. Delhi was recreated in Ramoji Film City Hyderabad where Ajay shot for 10 days. As for Alia’s character, she plays a pivotal role called Sita and is yet to film her part of the film. Reportedly the actor has been prepping for her role by learning Telugu from a local instructor to learn the nuances of her character.

The movie is directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by D.V.V Danayya. It is set to hit the theatres on January 2021, but given the current situation, the release might even get pushed.

When Raj Kumar Gupta‘s Raid hit the screens in 2018, it was instantly labelled as a must-watch. From an intelligent script, commendable screenplay to interesting characters and punchy dialogues, the film had it all. Now, news is that Ajay Devgn , who played the character of Amay Patnaik in the film, is all set to come back with a sequel, as confirmed by the producers themselves.

A report by Mumbai Mirror quoted a source saying, “The franchise seeks to bring into the public eye heroes who work closely with intelligence agencies to track white-collar crimes. To this day, nobody knows the identity of the officer on whom Ajay’s Amay was modelled. Raid 2 will also be a tribute to men who don’t wear the uniform.”

T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar also established that Raid 2 is currently in the scripting stage. He told Mumbai Mirror “It will be a huge multi-film franchise and Ajay Ji and I, along with Kumar Mangat Ji, are looking to take Raid forward. The script of Part 2 is being developed. Since the original was a much-loved film, the sequel is a huge responsibility. After the super success of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, there’s a lot of pressure on this collaboration to live up to the expectation.”

After collaborating on the period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Ajay Devgn and Bhushan Kumar’s next is Abhishek Dhundaiya‘s Bhuj: The Pride Of India. The movie is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war

Post the nationwide lockdown, the Singham star will be starting to shoot for Indra Kumar‘s Thank You. Siddharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh have also been roped in for the movie. Following this, he also has Neeraj Pandey‘s period drama Chanakya and the remake of Tamil hit, Kaithi. Raid 2 will also reportedly kick off next year. The superstar has also been roped in for S.S Rajamouli‘s magnum opus Roudram Ranam Rudhiram aka RRR which is all set to release in 2021.
