Soni Razdan, Sayani Gupta, Gauahar Khan & Maanvi Gagroo To Star In ‘Kaali Peeli Tales’

href=”author/avya-sharma”>Avya Sharma , 03 Apr 2021Cast Of Kaali Peeli Tales

Soni Razdan and girl gang Gauahar Khan, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo are coming together for ‘Kaali Peeli Tales’. The show will also feature Vinay Pathak, Sharib Hashmi, Hussain Dalal, Priyanshu Painyuli, Sadia Siddiqui, and Tanmay Dhananya among others.

The series captures the essence of love, relationships, and life in Mumbai and cover complex themes from infidelity, open marriage, homosexuality, commitment phobia, divorce to many others. All films are written and helmed by Adeeb Rais, formerly known for award-winning short films – ‘Aunty Ji starring Shabana Azmi, Baatein starring Supriya Pilgaonkar, a web series ‘Yeh Crazy Dil’ starring Zoa Morani, Lilette Dubey.

Talking about Kaali Peeli Tales, Adeeb says—

Each film has come from a very special place in my heart and has something unique to say. We haven’t shied away from bringing few important topics and showcasing some rather complex relationships through the films. Each of the films ends in an iconic Mumbai black and yellow (kaali peeli) taxi and that is a metaphor for the journey of life, which works as a common thread between each of the six films. Within the anthology, we’ve covered a gamut of emotions and showcased a mix of both relatable and slightly off-beat characters. There’s something for everyone to take home from this series.

When asked about the impressive line of up actors, Adeeb further adds—

Honestly, each of them are actors I personally love and admire and wished to work with. The fact that they have a huge following is just an add on. I have a personal equation with each of them and what connected them to the project was the purity in my intention behind telling each of the stories. They have all been very kind, supportive and I couldn’t feel more grateful. I can also vouch each of their fans are going to be very happy and satisfied with their performances. Figuring dates and logistics were a bit tricky at times, but eventually, things fell into place and it all feels really worth it. I’m currently enjoying my last leg of post-production and really excited to share our baby with the rest of the world. It’s purely all heart.

I am super excited about this one and sure can’t wait to see what the actors have in store for us!

Bhushan Kumar and Ahmed Khan have roped in the gorgeous Shraddha Kapoor for their next titled, Chaalbaaz In London. The quirky rom-com will have Shraddha playing a double role for the first time. Talking about the same, the actress says—

I feel blessed and fortunate that the makers thought of me for Chaalbaaz In London. This will be my first ever double role and it will definitely be challenging for any actor. Although there’s a huge responsibility on me, I’m happy that Bhushan sir and Ahmed sir feel that I will be able to pull it off. Also, it’s a great opportunity and a learning experience for me to work with Pankaj Sir who has entertained us for so many years. Looking forward to this journey.

Director Pankaj Parashar shares—

Shraddha is like magic on screen. I believe she is going to blow away audiences with her double role. For me, there is nobody better than her for a film like Chaalbaaz In London. I also want to thank Mr Bhushan Kumar and Mr Ahmed Khan for trusting in my vision and idea. I can’t wait to begin work on this project.

Producer, Bhushan Kumar says—

Chaalbaaz In London has been in the planning for some time now. I loved the storyline and quirkiness in the film’s narrative. It’s very commercial and modern, catering to the pan India audience. We are happy to have Shraddha again on board. She has been a thorough professional – very dedicated and easy to work with and hence was always our first choice. Also, Shraddha fits the part really well. It will be interesting to see two different Shraddhas in one film.

Ahmed Khan adds—

Chaalbaaz In London is more like a dream project for me. Shraddha is a fabulous actor and she will play both the characters with equal ease and her comic timing is impeccable. I know how funny Shraddha can be, so she was our obvious choice and when we reached out to her, she obviously jumped at it. It has always been an absolute pleasure teaming up with Bhushan ji because he is a team player who supports the team’s vision completely. We have an entire schedule planned in London and are in the midst of locking actors for the other roles. This is going to be special.

I am super excited about this one and sure can’t wait to see what Shraddha has in store for us!

Vikrant Massey’s ‘Forensic’ To Be Helmed By Criminal Justice Director, Vishal Furia And Written By Vishal Kapoor

href=”author/avya-sharma”>Avya Sharma , 03 Apr 2021Vikrant Massey, Vishal Furia, Mansi Bagla, and Vishal Kapoor.

After announcing Vikrant Massey as the lead actor for the Hindi remake of the 2020 south superhit, ‘Forensic’, Mini Films, reveals the name of the director and writer for the film on Vikrant’s birthday. The upcoming thriller drama will be helmed by Vishal Furia and written by Vishal Kapoor and the filming will begin soon. For the unversed, Vishal Furia has earlier directed Vikrant for Hotstar’s Criminal Justice.

Mansi Bagla who is the Founder of Mini Films said—

Can’t wait for this film to begin shooting and release. The Hindi adaption will have a pan India sensibility and catering to a wider audience is always a bigger challenge, especially with remakes. So we are being extremely careful with the script. The team has shaped up really well now. My director, Vishal Furia and Vikrant have worked in the past and have a great working relationship, which matters a lot. The script is also shaping up really well and we are in the middle of casting other characters. From costumes to music and the technical department, Mini Films will work with the best professionals!

Director Vishal Furia said—

This is a very challenging film, the original is a very gripping watch, we have to up the ante with the Hindi remake. Mansi is a very supportive producer and comes with an inherent understanding of cinema which is very reassuring. I and Vikrant have had a successful collaboration earlier with Criminal Justice. He is a fabulous artist and we share excellent chemistry together. Our team together will deliver a top-notch crime thriller that will appeal to both cinema audiences as well as OTT audiences. I’m looking forward to rolling this soon.

Vishal Kapoor the writer of the film has also written for Chhori starring Nushrat Bharucha and Attack starring John Abraham which are slated to release this year. Talking about ‘Forensic’ Vishal Kapoor said—

I am excited to be adapting Forensic in Hindi. I’ve been an avid fan of the crime/mystery/thriller genre and have admired films like Seven, Zodiac, Chinatown, Memories of Murder (Bong Joon-Ho). I’m a huge fan of David Fincher. In India, good crime mystery thrillers are very few and far between. As a writer, I will want to make more edge of the seat thrillers, murder mysteries and crime films. That’s exactly what I want to do with Forensic.

Talking about the director and writer, Mansi adds— “Both Vishal Furia and Vishal Kapoor not only possess extraordinary talents but are great human beings. I feel blessed to have them and it’s a perfect team”.

The makers will announce the lead actress of this film soon.

I am super excited about this one! What about you guys?

6 Reasons You Should Not Practice Yoga

href=”author/pooja-maheshwary”>Pooja Maheshwary , 03 Apr 2021Nishtha Bijlani Practising Yoga

The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word ‘yuj‘ which means union. This ancient Indian practice gradually leads towards a union of the body, mind and soul. But over the years, the true essence of yoga has been misconstrued and misinterpreted.

Nishtha Bijlani, Yoga Expert and Wellness Counsellor says,

Even though the western world has taken up yoga greatly, there still seems to be a selective approach to it. On the other hand, the East which is the birthplace of yoga, still witnesses a lot of hesitation and lack of knowledge towards it. Some phenomenal yogis of the past centuries strived to make yoga accessible for everyone. But cut to today, we are disconnected from the rich knowledge of the Vedas.

We often hear why we should practice yoga. So, we asked Nishtha to share her expert inputs on why we may still not be ready to truly practice yoga. Scroll down to read her top reasons why you should NOT practice yoga.

1. If All You’re Seeking Is Weight Loss And Cardio

Surya Namaskars are not cardio. They should be done slowly and respectfully. Yoga is a holistic, mindful practice. It’s a gradual shift in lifestyle. Discipline and consistency are required before you see a real change in all aspects. If the physical gain is all you want then you may consider other options.

2. If You Think You Need To Be Flexible First

Why is there a fuss about being flexible? It’s the mind that requires flexibility and not the body. The body will eventually become flexible when the mind is ready and the breath combines. Flexibility is a by-product of regular practice. Also, it’s about having the right balance between strength, flexibility and mobility. Only one won’t serve any purpose.

3. If You Think It’s Too Boring Or Slow Or Monotonous

The practice should be slow so we can really feel and be aware. What you may call monotonous is what is called practice or ‘sadhana‘. Repetition is important to create muscle memory, recall and understand.

Starting with a restless or impatient state of mind will do you no good. It’s only with repetition that we create a habit and it’s only when we move slowly can we work with the breath.

4. If All You Want To Learn Are Cool Insta-Worthy Poses

Yoga is not just a physical practice. But unfortunately, that is all that is marketed. It is quite self-limiting to only work on the physical aspect. The yogic practice should be complete, not one dimensional. The physical practice was developed only to tame our monkey-mind so that we could prepare ourselves for the stillness required for meditation. The journey of yoga is not from one pose to the next, but in fact from the external space to the internal.

5. If You Think Shavasana Is A Waste Of Time

It’s not always about the “doing”. A lot happens in the “non-doing”. To be in a state of conscious relaxation should come naturally, but unfortunately, it is a task for many. Rest and recovery are as important as the movements. Shavasana helps in physical, mental and emotional rejuvenation.

6. If You’re Just Picking Up On A Trend

While this is common and may even work positively at times, until you really have the inner need to seek a change in your life, it won’t help! The same lifestyle patterns will keep repeating. Before you take up yoga, understand a little about why you are doing what you’re doing. That will give you a clean slate to start the work and be open to change. Setting the right intention in place will help you move smoothly towards your goals.

A Mother’s Story On Raising A Child With Autism

href=”author/mallika-jhaveri”>Mallika Jhaveri , 03 Apr 2021A Happy Family | Source: Mugdha Kalra

Imagine you’ve booked a flight to Italy, and have been planning the best vacation there. You’re pumped to see the Colosseum, eat pizza near the Pantheon and have a picnic under the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Your built-up excitement bubbles through on your plane journey there where you just cannot wait to land and explore the country you’ve been dreaming of for months. However, when you land, you’re informed it’s not Italy but the Netherlands you’re in. At first, you’re confused and lost as to why you’re in a completely different place. You may even get angry and demand to be flown to Italy, but it never happens. Your dream to see Italy is crushed as you find yourself stuck in a less-flashy and slower-paced country like the Netherlands. However, after all that frustration has passed, you realise, the Netherlands are beautiful. You restructure your plan and visit the canals of Amsterdam, the Van Gogh Museum, and drown in a sea of tulips. You have a different but incredible time there. But upon your return, everyone around you brags about Italy, and you feel the pinch of missing out on it, and you will always feel it. However, you also feel blessed to have seen the Netherlands, unlike anyone else. This is the analogy that I was given for what Autism felt like for a mother.

Mugdha Kalra, a TV Journalist and Writer is a mother to an 11-year old son with Autism, Madhav Kalra. She advocates autism awareness, inclusion in all its forms and mental health. Her journey raising Madhav has driven her to showcase it on social media and fight for a kinder, more inclusive world. We wanted to know more about her journey in raising a child with Autism this World Autism Awareness Day, and here is what she had to say.

Madhav | Source: Mugdha Kalra

The Challenges Of Autism

Mugdha says,

The challenges are different at different times. When Autism is newly diagnosed, acceptance is a challenge. When you tell your family and friends, understanding is a challenge. When you decide on school VS therapy, that decision is a challenge. Finding the right intervention, therapist and doctor are challenging. Even choosing between a career and motherhood is a challenge.

While these are overwhelming, she strongly believes that the key to overcoming them is acceptance, patience and a strong sense of self. As a mother raising a child with Autism, she believes that having a strong community of mothers and an understanding tribe is a great pillar of strength for her.

Madhav | Source: Mugdha Kalra

Dealing With The Stigma

While Mugdha knows many parents who have faced a lot of stigmas, shame, blame and pity. But she never let that happen to her as she was proud and confident from the very beginning of her journey with Madhav. She said that her family did cut some people off and that growing a thick skin is vital when it comes to raising a child with Autism. She says,

What you portray to the world gets mirrored back. If we are confident, loving and accepting of our child, people around us did just the same.

Raising An Autistic Child & Having Me-Time

Parenting a special needs child takes a huge toll emotionally. As mothers, we go through a spectrum of emotions from euphoria and confidence to utter despair and dread.

says Mugdha, who strongly believes that having me-time and taking breaks to help cope with the emotional roller-coaster that comes with Autism. She says having a supportive family to share parenting duties is important. Her mother-in-law and husband have been incredible with Madhav, helping every step of the way. Her friends spend time with Madhav as well as Mugdha alone, which is great. Having me-time is important, whether it’s going for daily walks, taking up a hobby by yourself, getting creative and working are just some ways to make time for yourself and your mental health. Additionally, asking for assistance, delegating duties and seeking professional help can be a game-changer while raising a child with Autism. Mothers need to take care of themselves, only then can they take care of their child!

Madhav and Mugdha | Source: Mugdha Kalra

Plan Your Finances Well

While raising a child with special needs, parents need to have a solid financial plan. This is important for a mother raising a child with Autism. There are now organisations that help with choosing the right insurance, availing tax benefits, trusts and even executing wills. Mugdha says that every family like hers should have a financial planning coach who is overseeing their investments and return on investments. Parents need to know how to get benefits from government schemes and how to get a disability certificate as well. All these help greatly and can make the journey so much easier.

Mugdha’s Top 5 Tips On Raising A Child With Autism

  • Do not hide your child. Take him grocery shopping, to theatres, amusement parks, restaurants and to all the places where you fear he might not fit in. He will fit in only if he is taken out more often!
  • Invest in tried-and-tested, evidence-based therapies for your child. Keep your plans dynamic and holistic. If you think something that worked for a while is becoming redundant, change it.
  • Find your tribe. Find a strong community that will help both you and your child. Build bonds and friendships that offer unconditional support and empathy.
  • Look beyond special needs and disability. Your child is much more than the “label” and there is much more to your life than just being a “special needs parent”.
  • Accept, embrace and share your journey with the world.

Madhav and Mugdha | Source: Mugdha Kalra

Inclusion Is Important

Mugdha wants the world to become a friendlier and a more inclusive place for children like Madhav. She says,

I want the parents of neuro-typicals to make their children more compassionate and empathetic towards the neuro-diverse. We want our kids to play together, become friends and learn from each other. Compassion cannot be taught when we are adults and inclusion has to be the way of life from the very start.

Family Time | Source: Mugdha Kalra

Mugdha and Madhav’s relationship is inspiring and full of love. We hope their story changes the way you perceive autism and motherhood while also taking a step towards greater inclusion and acceptance. What are your views on this? Share it with us in the comments below!

1. How did you start your journey? It actually was by accident. I had been working at MissMalini since 2015 and conceptualised and featured in a lot of the beauty videos. Earlier on, I would just repost the videos onto my Instagram feed but slowly as I started to review more products, I’d talk about it on my page and share my thoughts, views and how I’d use that product. And since then I love sharing everything I do, use and love. So I guess it just started from there you could say…2. What inspired you to take up beauty blogging? As a kid, I would just love to flip through magazines especially the fashion and beauty section. Once I got an internship at Vogue India, my love for beauty just skyrocketed. I was so infatuated and intrigued by everything that the industry and people came up with that I knew that it was something I wanted to do!

Two internships and 1 job later, I found myself at MissMalini, writing for the Fashion and Beauty section. Again, since my love for beauty was very strong, I went on to become the Beauty Editor—to create, conceptualise and come up with or test out trends is something I’m very passionate about, and it’s what drives me every day.3. How do you manage to juggle between your work and content creation?Oh man, even I don’t have a clue! LOL. But I guess my passion for the field… for being creative and experimental, for sharing and also kind of having a goal and purpose at the end of the day. Also, the kind of work I do now at MM is slightly different basis my position as compared to my personal content creation on my page.4. Tell me about your most viral video.Literally happened to glance at that yesterday! It’s wild but the most random, natural and less forced or “scripted” videos do the best for me. This video has almost 10M views and it’s with me and my sister doing a challenge. See… so random!

5. What kind of audience do you wish to reach through your content.I want to reach out to the people who currently believe and have a notion that they have to be “perfect”. It’s easy to get fooled and consumed in the whole Instagram world of perfect things. But what I strive to do with my content is keep it relatable, friendly and easy, so that they know that having dark circles, or being short or having a pimple, doesn’t make you less than perfect, it actually makes you human. We absolutely love how Natasha is sparkling and giving her own touch to beauty content. Her content is really helpful and is the perfect guide when it comes to different products that we aren’t much aware of. Amitabh Bachchan And Sidharth Malhotra Reportedly Opted Out Of Aankhen 2

href=”author/avya-sharma”>Avya Sharma , 03 Apr 2021Amitabh Bachchan and Sidharth Malhotra (Source: Instagram | @srbachchan & @sidmalhotra)

In February, reports were doing rounds that filmmaker, Abhinay Deo has confirmed that he is gearing up for Aankhen 2 with Amitabh Bachchan, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna. Taking the story further from the 2002 hit that had the megastar playing the role of a mastermind who upskills three blind men to rob a bank, the sequel was touted to be set in a casino. Now, according to a report by MidDay, it is heard that Big B and Sidharth have walked out of the heist thriller.

According to the plan initially, the film was to be shot in the UK and other parts of Europe with Sidharth, Akshaye and Sunil Grover in May, and Amitabh Bachchan was expected to join them later.

The publication quoted a source as saying— “In the past two months, there was little progress on the impending schedule. Since the film was taking longer than expected to go on floors, Bachchan saab and Sidharth could no longer put their other projects on hold and graciously bowed out of the movie. Sidharth will be tied up for the next few months with Mission Majnu and Thank God while Bachchan saab started shooting for Goodbye.”

On the lookout for a fresh cast, the makers have apparently reached out to Anil Kapoor and Rana Daggubati.
