Rajkummar Rao Nails Street Style With His Mural-esque Sweatshirt

href=”author/nelly-wadia”>Nelly Wadia , 08 Feb 2021Rajkummar Rao

There is no doubt in my mind about Rajkummar Rao being a talented actor. Every single one of his movies has made me fall in love with his many characters. He brings nuance and skill and breathes a new life into his on-screen roles. His advice to young actors is to not chase money and fame. He says fall in love with the craft and the art of acting. Study and prepare before coming to Mumbai especially now with Cinema changing.

Rajkummar is riding high on the success of The White Tiger and will be seen in Hum Do Humare Do opposite Kriti Sanon, Roohi Afzana with Janhvi Kapoor, and Badhaai Do with Bhumi Pednekar.

Let’s take a look at Rajkummar Rao in his graphic knit:

Hello! Rajkummar Rao! Is all my mind can bring itself to say. The star has been killing it lately with his sartorial choices and is quickly becoming one of our favourite fashionistas. His taste is unique and quirky and stylish above all. I can never find a flaw in the outfits he wears. They’re all crisp and nothing seems over styled ever. For his latest outing, he wears a graphic Dolce & Gabbana sweatshirt.

Punchy prints and colourful text are a refreshing twist on the basic sweatshirt. The striking sweatshirt features a blue and white striped crew neck, long sleeves and matching striped cuffs and hemline. Crafted from cotton stretch fabric; the sweatshirt is an ode to New York and the graffiti we see on the streets. It costs approximately 50 thousand rupees. The D&G graffiti collection features everything from sneakers to graphic tee to mural-esque sweatshirts. Rajkummar Rao styles it with blue ripped jeans that he rolls up from the bottom. He pairs his look with chunky white sneakers and retro round-frame sunglasses.

Dinner at a fancy restaurant calls for an equally fancy outfit. Our pick for such a plan is a mini dress in a traditional red hue. 2) Netflix & Chill

Staying in will be the most preferred way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year. If you’re not comfortable stepping out, plan a romantic movie and dinner night indoors, instead. A cute and relaxed look for a night like this would be the perfect choice of outfit you could make. Look to this trendy three-piece co-ord set, comprising a pair of knitted shorts, a crop-top and a cropped sweater in pastel blue as your OOTN. It’s cosy, looks stylish and is perfect to lounge in at home while enjoying some one-on-one time with your partner.

3) Virtual Date

For couples in a long-distance relationship or those quarantining,  there is always Zoom to the rescue! However, virtual needn’t mean non-stylish! A wise choice in such a situation would be to go for a vibrant top or dress to nail waist-up dressing. Pick out a sparkly sweater or dress, like the one below, that highlights your décolletage and enhance it further with a simple neckpiece. You have permission to team it up with comfy slippers cause no one is going to know, haha!

4) With Your Gal Pals

Got plans with your Galentines this year? Play dress-up with your gal pals by trying on a trend or two that you couldn’t, last year. Our personal pick would be something colourful and something with tulle for that playful vibe. Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw by sporting a tulle skirt with a t-shirt or a ruffle dress. Be it single-coloured or rainbow-themed, we’re fans of the voluminous and feminine appeal of tulle ruffles. Furthermore, if you want to complete the look with something more classy, opt for some high heels. But even opting for sneakers will make for a fun pairing! What do you think?

5) Romantic Getaway

Has your partner surprised you with a mini getaway or an elaborate holiday to a tropical destination? Ditch ’em heels at home as this calls for trendy beachwear and long, breezy dresses! Currently, we’re all over tiered dresses that are perfect for lounging by the beach or dancing away the night in. Moreover, a bright colour such as lime green is a fun choice if you want to dial up the fashion quotient. Add some white sandals to complete the look and statement earrings to finish off your tropical V-Day look.

What can I even say about this epic track right here? We couldn’t stop laughing at how Yashraj turned a TikTok dialogue into a rap song remixed by Shade with peppy music beats. The tune is so catchy and innovative that you won’t be able to stop yourself from listening to it over and over again.

2. How’s The Josh

If you thought that Yashraj is only good at remixes and raps, then this will prove you wrong! ‘How’s The Josh’  is a song that is written, composed, and sung by Yashraj himself. The music and lyrics of this song are so powerful that it awakens the feeling of patriotism every time we listen to it and we absolutely love it!

Salman Khan Might Start Shooting For Tiger 3 In Istanbul

href=”author/pallavi-manoj”>Pallavi Manoj , 08 Feb 2021Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif | ( Source: Instagram | @katrinakaif)

Salman Khan has been busy catching up on all the shoots that he missed out during the lockdown, much like everyone else in the entertainment industry. The superstar has already completed two films, namely, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai and Antim: The Final Truth. The third one that Salman was slated to do was the third part of the Tiger franchise but due to its much more lavish scale, it seems to be taking some time to go on floors. The actor was supposed to kick off the shoot for the same in March, and while director Maneesh Sharma is still trying his best to stick to the schedule, he might make a few tweaks to the original plan. The makers who were planning to start shooting the movie in UAE may now be shot in Istanbul instead.

Aditya Chopra, the producer of the film has been rethinking the location as there is a spurt in Covid cases in the UAE. A trade source revealed to Mid-Day that the pre-production for the movie has already begun and the producer wants the film to start shooting on time, but since the UAE is facing a spike in cases, Maneesh and Aditya are discussing the possibility of shooting in Turkey with Salman first and then doing the rest of the movie. Salman has already given his dates to the movie in bulk. The team has already done their recce in the UAE and the makers have already deployed a small team to Istanbul to score the location. They are currently just waiting for feedbacks from these teams to make a decision.

Salman will reportedly sport a lean look in the movie and resume his role as RAW (Research & Analysis Wing) agent Avinash Singh Rathore alongside Katrina Kaif.

टाइगर ज़िंदा है और तांडव फेम परेश पहुजा ने अपने नए सॉन्ग ‘मस्कारा’ के बारे में की बात

href=”author/yashiverma”>Yashi Verma , 08 Feb 2021

Paresh Pahuja, (Source : Instagram | @pareshpahuja)

Paresh Pagina, (Source: Instagram | @pareshpahuja)

Imposter Syndrome: The Real Reason For Your Self-Doubt & Insecurities

href=”author/mallika-jhaveri”>Mallika Jhaveri , 08 Feb 2021Imposter Syndrome text on sticky notes isolated on office desk by bangoland | www.shutterstock.com

Have you ever felt like you didn’t deserve your success? That you got to where you are solely based on good luck and happy coincidences? Are you scared that people will discover that you don’t have any real skills and are a fraud? Do you have sleepless nights freaking out about taking on more responsibility or getting promoted at work because you know you’re really talent-less? If you too are a ball of self-doubt and find yourself undeserving of your accomplishments, no matter their size, chances are you could have Imposter Syndrome.

Defined in the 1970s, Impostor syndrome refers to an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be. Basically, you feel like a complete phoney. While initially, it was said to affect successful women only, it is now said to be experienced by everyone, regardless of gender and social status.

Why Do We Really Experience Imposter Syndrome?

There are multiple reasons one experiences Imposter Syndrome. It can stem from personality traits or external surroundings. According to this article by Very Well Mind, if a person is inclined towards social anxiety, neuroticism or perfectionism, they may fall victim to Imposter Syndrome. They may constantly doubt themselves and feel pressured to deliver nothing short of 100%. Similarly, a person’s environment and past experiences can also play a role. If someone has grown up in a highly critical family (or in our case in constant awe of “Sharma Ji ka beta“) or felt constantly overshadowed by others’ achievements (we’re back to “Sharma Ji ka beta“), can experience it. Certain events such as starting fresh at university or being promoted at work can trigger it as well. The sudden change makes you doubt whether you belong there and can lead to all sorts of self-sabotage.

Common Signs Of Imposter Syndrome

According to this article by Very Well Mind, some common symptoms are:

  • You are in constant self-doubt about anything and everything you do.
  • You attribute your accomplishments to luck.
  • You bend backwards and burn out just to prove your worth (even when you don’t need to)
  • You always fear that you won’t live up to others’ expectations.
  • You set unreal goals for yourself and then berate your abilities when you cannot meet them
  • You sabotage your success because you think it’s fake and you don’t deserve it.
  • You overprepare for things and when you deliver the results, you link it to your over preparation, creating a vicious cycle. For instance, if you have a small presentation at work, you prep for it the entire night to make sure every single detail is perfect. When your presentation does well, you feel it’s only because of the all-nighter you pulled, and not your intelligence. Hence, before any presentation, you make it a point to stay up all night. This is highly toxic!

When these symptoms go unchecked, they can snowball into depression, paranoia, hysteria, eating disorders and worse.

Types Of Imposter Syndrome

Valerie Young, an expert on Imposter Syndrome and author of The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women, has identified five types of “Imposters”. They are:

1. Perfectionists

They strive for utmost perfection and if they accomplish 99% of their goals, they will focus on the 1% they missed rather than the 99% the accomplished. They set unrealistic goals and find faults in themselves when they don’t meet them.

2. Experts

They need to know every single piece of information before taking on a project. They will run themselves dry studying and learning new abilities. They never feel like they’re good enough and always strive to learn newer skills and get certifications.

3. Natural Genius

They are quick to accomplish their goals and used to learning new skills easily. However, when they struggle or are unable to do something, they feel like a fraud and berate their innate talents.

4. Soloists

They prefer to work alone and deem asking for help as a sign of weakness. They reject any assistance and instead often burnout on their own.

5. Superheroes

They constantly feel insecure and inadequate and hence go above and beyond what is expected (and also needed). They spread themselves out too thin to feel accomplished, leading to a mental collapse.

Effects Of Imposter Syndrome

Suffering from Imposter Syndrome can lead to many harmful effects which can cumulatively break a person from within. According to this article by Medical News Today, some of these are:

  • Constant overachieving.
  • Avoiding promotions and responsibilities because you feel you don’t deserve them and will fail miserably if you take them on.
  • Daily burnouts due to overworking yourself to try and be the best and shed your “fraud” impression
  • Intense self-depreciation, feeling of shame and sometimes self-hatred too.
  • Having an “I’m Just Lucky” mindset and being unable to internalise your real skills, hard work and talent.
  • Mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, paranoia, hysteria, eating and sleeping disorders.

Imposter Syndrome is tricky but it can be overcome. Stay tuned for how one can cope with this and defeat it once and for all.

Remo D’Souza Shares He Has Faced Racism Ever Since His Childhood

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 08 Feb 2021Remo D’Souza (Source: Instagram | @remodsouza)

Racism and prejudice are issues that are very much prevalent but discussed in hushed tones world over. Now, people are much more open about having conversations about it and talking about their experiences openly.

Recently, choreographer and filmmaker Remo D’Souza also came out to share his experiences with the same. In an interview with Times Of India, he says he has faced a lot of racism and prejudice due to the colour of his skin since his childhood. He shares that people used to call him names but he ignored it because he thought they were saying that “because he looks a certain way”.

But he elaborates and shares that it is only once he grew up that he realised that it was wrong and that him letting them say those things is worse. So he now stands up and gives it back to those who comment on him or the colour of his skin. He says that racism is very much a reality, especially in small towns and villages. He adds that that is also what pushed him to become who he is today so that nobody could call him those names again.

More power to you, Remo!

While we are glad he is starting conversations about such pertinent issues, that’s not it. He has recently turned producer and is presenting the film Laila Manju which talks about the racism and prejudice faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.

The film, which is set in London, features Shashank Vyas of Balika Vadhu fame, Abhimanyu Tomar, Nehal Chudasama, Lulia Vântur, Farida Jalal, Jimmy Sheirgill, Niki Aneja Walia, Rajit Kapur, Mahesh Manjrekar, VJ Andy, and Jesse Lever in pivotal roles.
