‘I Get Sadistic Pleasure In Ignoring The Trolls’ — Tusshar Kapoor

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 04 Feb 2021Tusshar Kapoor At Ekta Kapoor’s Diwali Party

After a gap of many years, Tusshar Kapoor is returning to the movies with his own production, Marich, opposite Naseeruddin Shah. He comes from an influential family in Bollywood and Showbiz — with his father Jeetendra being a big hero in his days and his sister Ekta Kapoor ruling the Indian television and OTT space for the longest time. This year, he is set to complete 2 decades in the industry.

In an interview with Times Of India, he speaks about how he has had a path of his own that he has paved for himself that is different from his father. He points out that most of his acting choices were based on characters that helped him make a mark. His stint in Golmaal for instance, which really became popular among audiences.

Speaking about how he has faced criticism in his life, he says that no one has ever been unjust to him in the industry and that if his film was bad, the audience made sure that he knew of it.

Talking of audiences, he points out trolls on social media who have such easy access to commenting on a celebrity’s professional and personal lives. He shares that previously when his films didn’t do well, he would feel bad. But realising that this is part of the profession made it easier for him to deal with it. Now, he says, he gets ‘a sadistic pleasure out of ignoring the trolls’.

Explaining further, he says that if it’s constructive criticism, he is all for it. But adds that some people at times only vent out their frustration in the name of criticism in want for attention. His way of dealing with it is to ignore them and let them do it and ‘wish them love and peace’.

Rana Daggubati Speaks About How Films Helped Him Cope With His Ill Health

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 04 Feb 2021Rana Daggubati (Source: Instagram | @ranadaggubati)

Films really have a way of touching your soul and speaking to your heart, no? There are some stories and films that are just the answer to all our problems at times. Actor Rana Daggubati also seems to have had a similar experience in his life.

Given it’s the lockdown, our Boss Lady, Malini Agarwal, came up with a Virtual Happy Hour session with the Girl Tribe where the members get to interact with their favourite celebrities virtually. We had Rana Daggubati come in for one such session and speak with all the girls who are fans of him and his work, and what a lovely session it was!

The actor opened up about how important films and stories are to him, and how he copes with hurdles in his career and life. Rana shared a lovely anecdote about the time he was diagnosed with high BP and other health issues a while ago.

He says he was in America when he was diagnosed, he went to the theatre to catch Avengers: Infinity War. He also shares that interestingly, he had voiced for Thanos in the Telugu version of the Hollywood film and watched the movie thinking he was him. At the end of that movie, all the Avengers are dead and only Thanos survives. This, he says, gave him the confidence that he will get through whatever he is going through and come out of it standing tall, like Thanos.

How amazing it is when a movie gives you just the message you need, no?

In the interaction, Rana spoke about the serene and fulfilling experience of filming his upcoming movie, Haathi Mere Saathi in the dense jungles for months. He also spoke about his media venture called South Bay which is all about pop culture, mental health and tried guessing a few millennial lingos!

How You Can Really Help & Comfort A Cancer Patient

href=”author/mallika-jhaveri”>Mallika Jhaveri , 04 Feb 2021Vintage yellow photo frame by CrisZDe | www.shutterstock.com

Nothing about cancer is easy. The physical discomfort, endless doctor’s visits, the painful side-effects of chemotherapy, stress, mental fatigue and crippling self-esteem are part of an exhausting journey. Many of us are often confused as to what to do and say to our loved ones suffering from cancer. Sometimes, we end up unintentionally offending, irritating or worse, avoiding them. Today is World Cancer Day and we had a conversation on the Girl Tribe by MissMalini about the things that should be said and done around cancer patients and the responses were eye-opening. The responses came from personal experiences and medical professionals and hence were extremely insightful. We hope they help you comfort and be there for your loved one suffering from this illness.

How You Can Really Help & Comfort A Cancer Patient:1. Talk about anything but their cancer

You know they have cancer and they know they have cancer. It’s the elephant in the room that should not be addressed. Talking about their illness just makes them repeat details about it and does nothing to uplift their spirits. Talk about the latest book you read, a weird Reels trend or even the latest episode of Bigg Boss!

2. Don’t treat them like cancer patients

You may try your best to hide it, but your loved one will know when you’re treating them like a sick patient. Walking on eggshells around them, assuming they’re helpless, not letting them do simple things by themselves can be more infuriating than annoying. Unless they ask you to help, don’t assume they need it. There are many cancer patients who’ve done crazily daring things like sky-diving and that is far (far) from being “patient-like”.

3. Help out around the house

A great way to help cancer patients is to help with their household chores. Cooking and sending them food, tidying up their rooms, feeding their pets, keeping a tab on their medications, driving them around and similar activities can be very helpful. Taking them for chemotherapy and sitting through it with them can be a lot of fun too!

4. Never pity them. Ever.

Save the big-eyes, the sorry looks and the consoling touch when it comes to cancer patients. If there’s one thing they hate more than chemotherapy (and that is a real pain), it’s being pitied. They’re fighting a deadly disease, they should be commended, not pitied. Pro-tip: Never refer to them as “poor thing”. Ever.

5. Plan fun weekly night-ins or night-outs

Who doesn’t love a fun night? You can plan weekly nights that can include movies, cooking a fancy meal, going out for a drink, binge-watching Bridgerton or even getting “mani–pedis” in your pajamas. This gives them a break from their mundane routine and takes their mind off their cancer for a little bit.

6. Give them space and privacy

Sometimes, cancer patients need their space. They, just like everyone else, like to be left alone every now and then. When they express this, don’t brush it off and forcefully hang out with them. It’s annoying and disrespectful. However, if you are genuinely concerned about them being left alone for mental health reasons, especially if they’ve shown signs and symptoms of mental illness, please let their family members know.

7. Don’t be overly cheerful or optimistic

Please keep the Tumblr quotes and Pinterest pictures to yourself. It doesn’t help cancer patients and many get annoyed by the constant optimism and overly cheerful attitude of the people around them. While it’s great to be happy and positive around them, it’s irritating to be an “enthu-cutlet“. Additionally, if they’re in a rotten mood and just want to cry it out or be angry, let them. (Sometimes you just need to let it out, you know?)

8. Silently pray for them

Many of our Girl Tribe members agreed that silently praying for cancer patients and manifesting their recovery is a good thing to do. You need not even tell them you’re doing it. Pray to whoever or whatever you believe in and send them your positive energy. It’s not only easy, but it really does help.

Cancer is a tricky disease and battling it is no easy task. What do you think about this? How do you comfort a loved one who has cancer? Share it with us in the comments below.

Luv Ranjan‘s untitled starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor has been making headlines ever since its inception, all the more because of the two stars’ fresh pairing. This is the first time we will be seeing RK and Shraddha share the screen and we can’t wait for the treat that it’s going to be.

The work on the film is in full swing and the duo has been shooting for the same in Delhi but now Shraddha has returned to Mumbai. It’s a schedule wrap for Shraddha on the said film.

Shraddha, the social-media powerhouse also took to her Instagram and shared an excited picture of herself, to inform her fans about the shoot wrap. On the picture, she wrote, “& that’s a wrap on an amazing shoot schedule! Time to go home!”

Shraddha Kapoor’s Instagram story

Shraddha was seen clad upon a chic outfit as she made her way home to Mumbai, last night. She opted to team up a white shirt with beige loose pants, paired with a black leather jacket.

As the film is touted to be a romantic dramedy, Shraddha’s pairing with Ranbir Kapoor is counted as one of the most anticipated on-screen jodis in 2021. Excited fans have even created a couple ship name for the duo called ‘#Shrabir’.

Looking at her calendar, one can imagine Shraddha has been a busy bee lately, with lots of projects under her belt. The actress had 2 releases last year too. Even during the nationwide lockdown, Shraddha had been reading a lot of scripts and attending a number of online narrations.

Shweta Basu Prasad Talks About Prepping For Her Role As A Sex-Worker In ‘India Lockdown’

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 04 Feb 2021Shweta Basu Prasad (Source: Instagram | @shwetabasuprasad11)

Madhur Bhandarkar recently announced that his next project, India Lockdown, is set to go on floors. After a long gap, work has restarted in the industry and actress Shweta Basu Prasad, who will be seen in India Lockdown, is happy to be back on sets.

Madhur’s directorial encapsulates the difficulties that were faced by several sections of the society during the lockdown in 2020 owing to the COVID-19 crisis. Using four interconnected stories, the film underlines what happened when the lockdown brought every business to a near-halt and impacted the livelihoods of millions of Indians. One such section that Madhur has decided to focus on are the sex workers in red-light districts in Mumbai who were majorly affected during the lockdown.

Shweta plays a sex-worker, Mehrunissa, in Bhandarkar’s film. As part of her research for the role, she visited Mumbai’s red-light area, Kamathipura, with Bhandarkar a fortnight ago.

Speaking about it, she says she likes to dive deep into her character and work on a backstory:

In this case, I’m playing Mehrunissa, a sex worker. Two weeks ago, Madhur sir and I, with our team, went to Kamathipura, where we met many sex workers. Sir felt that my language was too polished for the part, so the idea was to understand how much I have to change my language and get comfortable with their other nuances. He wanted me to meet the women to understand how they think. They had such overwhelming stories about their lives, the way the lockdown impacted them and their business. It was an experience of a lifetime to just get a first-hand insight into their living conditions and their houses. It all helped me write a backstory.

About whether she had any apprehensions in visiting the district, she says:

I’m a student of journalism and have seen and made documentaries. Besides, this trip was related to my work. The only apprehension was to not say something inappropriate or ask questions that may make them feel uncomfortable. I didn’t want to cross that line. The women were generous to open up about their life stories, they helped us in our narrative. As an artiste, this is one of those precious times in life when one gets to push the envelope. And guess what? I did meet a Mehrunissa there. My character is dedicated to her; she’s just like the character I am playing.

Finally, she says:

I’ve also seen Tabu in Chandni Bar (2001), Kareena Kapoor Khan in Chameli (2003), Konkona Sensharma in Traffic Signal (2007), and Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi in Mandi (1983). And now, it’s my turn to bring the sex-workers’ heartbreakingly beautiful stories on to the big screen.

India Lockdown Prateik Babbar, Sai Tamhankar and Aahana Kumra apart from Shweta and I sure can’t wait for this one!

6 Amazing Hydrating Makeup Primers With Hyaluronic Acid

href=”author/kanak-devnani”>Kanak Devnani , 04 Feb 2021

If you have skin that’s more on the dry side you already know that applying your base products like foundation or concealer can be a huge struggle. Especially so if your skin is dehydrated and rough. The secret to getting that smooth base and glow up lies in a good primer. While your skincare might help sometimes it’s not enough, that’s where your hydrating primer comes into play. One popular ingredient to quench dry skin is hyaluronic acid. It’s one of the best ways to boost hydration. HA is basically a moisture magnet that draws moisture from that air and deposits it onto your skin. Add in other nourishing ingredients and you’ve got yourself a recipe for success. The best primers offer other benefits to your complexion too like brightening, plumping up the skin and also reducing the look of fine lines or wrinkles.

Since all primers are not created equal, the key is in thinking of priming as the last step in your skincare before makeup rather than the first step of your makeup application.  Pay attention to the texture formula and what works best for you and your skin concerns. With so many options out there it can be super confusing. Moreover, it seems like every hydrating primer nowadays has hyaluronic acid or a variation of it—how’s a gal supposed to pick the right one? Never fear, if you’re like us and can’t get enough of this special ingredient look no further. We’ve compiled a list of the best high-end and drugstore primers with HA. These primers will help your flawless makeup stay all day and boost your skins natural glow. Rock your makeup all day without worrying about any flaking or fading.

Keep reading to check out the best hydrating primers with hyaluronic acid:1. Maybelline, Face Studio Master Prime in Hydrate + Smooth

Bigg Boss 14: Devoleena Bhattacharjee Opens Up About Childhood Struggles Post Her Father’s Death

href=”author/shubanka-sridhar”>Shubanka Sridhar , 04 Feb 2021Devoleena Bhattacharjee, (Source: Instagram | @devoleena)

Contestants in the Bigg Boss house have always had moments where they bear their soul out and open up about the things that have shaped them into the people they are. From traumas to difficult times, they have shared many such moments from their lives on National television.

Just yesterday, Devoleena Bhattacharjee opened up about how she faced a lot of discrimination from society post her father’s death.

Speaking to Rakhi Sawant, Devoleena shared:

I was eleven years when we lost our dad. My mother was also unwell, but she went to office, prepared food for us. And we would go to school. The way they treated us without our father….It is the fact of life, if there is no father…Our society looks down upon families where father is not present.

The actress was speaking to Rakhi in the garden area which is the spot she has been allocated for the current task – which is to ensure content creation that catches the audiences’ attention.
Devoleena, who was also on the previous Bigg Boss 13 season, had to quit the show owing to medical reasons. She is currently in the house as a proxy for Eijaz Khan, who had to step out due to work commitments.

Not just her, but Rakhi Sawant also opened up about her marriage to Rahul Vaidya and said that she found out her husband Ritesh was already married with a child. She tied the knot with him in 2019 but has never been seen with him in public or in pictures. Rakhi shared another incident that scarred her saying a friend, who helped with money for her mother’s treatment, forced himself on her.

With so many revelations and shocking truths from the contestants, we need to see who wins this task.

Akshay Kumar’s Sooryanvanshi To Reportedly Release On 2nd April This Year

href=”author/avya-sharma”>Avya Sharma , 04 Feb 2021Sooryavanshi Trailer Launch, (Source: Instagram | @akshaykumar)

The end credits of Rohit Shetty-directed Simmba led to the announcement of Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi. Headlined by Akshay Kumar, the cop-drama, that also stars Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Ajay Devgn as Singham, was slated to release last year on Guddi Padwa but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The government has now allowed 100% occupancy in cinemas and this could be a sigh of relief for all the films that were long due for a release, and Sooryavanshi is one of them. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film could arrive on April 2 this year. The publication quoted a source as saying “Rohit Shetty is leading the discussion with the theatre owners. Co-producer Reliance Entertainment is also a part of these meetings”.The source further added that—“The makers want to solve all the issues cropping up like payment of VPF (virtual print fee), revenue sharing, shortening of the window between OTT and theatrical release, etc. with the exhibitors. They are confident that there would soon be a consensus over these issues.”

Talking about the official announcement of the release, the publication mentioned that the team plans to announce the date of release in a grand way. The makers of the film are going to make sure that enough buzz is generated around the release of the film. The source concluded by saying that the announcement is expected to happen next week.

The film also stars Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Nikitin Dheer, Abhimanyu Singh, and Sikandar Kher among others.
